Carusio art pottery studio originated from the experience and the traditional working of Capodimonte pottery. "Capodimonte" manufacture has been handed down here for four generations of Neapolitan potters, including renowned artists such as Borrelli and De Bernardo (the owner’s great-grandfather and grandfather, respectively).
In 1999, Giuseppe Carusio (the owner’s father), after a 50-year activity as trainer modeler, finisher, and kilnsman (in the most important Neapolitan businesses, including Freda, Stile, De Palma, Majello, Mollica, and his own), handed down his business to his son Giovanni, who started working personally in the studio. This is the origin of today’s workshop Giovanni Carusio.
Giovanni, after learning his father’s job basics and the most important working techniques, specializes in third-firing painting, following his own inclination and achieving excellent results. His activity has always been characterized by the dual aspect of keeping tradition and continuously searching, with an eye on the past (classical) and one on the future (trends), while also starting a business modernization.
The whole production is made on site and completely by hand, according to traditional standards, in compliance with Law no. 188/90 (CAT trademark – Art Traditional Ceramics) and only with "firing colours".
