SCIUSCIÀ ARTIGIANATO NAPOLETANO

Artistic Nativity Scene

1

Introduction

We craft Nativity figures and scenes, especially rocks, and typical 18th-century Neapolitan settings. We shape terracotta heads, with measurements based on the figure’s size.

We make wooden hands and feet, with the aid of precision tools and manual assembly. We also set back-painted glass eyes in terracotta heads, after they have been baked at 900 degrees.

We paint heads, hands, and feet with acrylics or oils.

Then, figures, with their body made of hemp and wire, are dressed by using several fabrics and ornaments. Cork and wooden setting, with final details added.
